Erica Asmus-Otero, Founder
A native New Mexican, Erica Asmus-Otero has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of Public Relations and Integrated Marketing with a Journalism background. Prior to launching InPress, LLC in 2011, Erica launched the first morning show as an anchor and reporter for KGNS-TV "Good Day Laredo" show in Texas, later returning to Albuquerque where she worked for KOAT-TV, producing newscasts on the weekend and reporting.
After eventually transitioning into Public Relations, Erica took on the role as Public Information Officer for 34 New Mexico State Parks, increasing overall visitation, and later became the Communications Director for the Behavioral Health Collaborative, formerly of the NM Department of Health and Human Services. There, she worked to change perceptions about behavioral health issues.
Erica has extensive experience with tourism industry clients including handling the public relations for the Village of Jemez Springs. Lodger's tax receipts have steadily increased annually in the Village. Erica has also handled the PR for the Town of Taos, Sierra County, and Los Alamos County while contracting with local agency, Griffin and Associates. Erica currently manages the public relations account for McDonald's in New Mexico through Fitzgerald Petersen Communications.
She has a broad range of experience with clients in the entertainment, business, non profit and other industries, including for Brothers of the Good Shepard, St. Felix Pantry, A Peaceful Habitation, and others. She is also responsible for website content for the Family Life Office - an office of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.
Erica consistently leverages her journalism background to develop relevant story pitches and ideas which pique media interest. She is a believer in the power of earned media, and tapping into influencers who impact trends and news. Resulting articles have appeared in major publications and television shows including NBC’s Today Show, Sunset Magazine, CNN Travel, New York Times, Fox News, National Geographic Traveler, Los Angeles Times, Travel and Leisure, Smithsonian Magazine, Bloomberg, USA Today 10Best, Huffington Post, Denver Post, Austin American Statesman, as others, as well as local media outlets including Albuquerque Journal, KOB-4, KOAT-7, KRQE-News 13, FOX NM Style, and many more.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with a minor in Psychology from the University of New Mexico. She is a member of New Mexico Public Relations Society of America as well as a board member with the New Mexico Hospitality Association, a Central Regional Marketing Board Member and a board member with the Sandoval County Lodger's Tax Board.
Erica enjoys spending time with her family traveling, writing and photographing the beauty of New Mexico and the world around her.
